CHINAKATHOOR TEMPLE

Sree Chinakkathoor Bhagavathy Temple hosts one of the most unique and colourful poorams (temple festivals) in Kerala. Situated in Palappuram near Ottapalam Taluk in Palakkad district, this festival draws in people in large numbers annually. It is celebrated on Makam asterism in the Malayalam month of Kumbham. ANANGAMALA ECO TOURISM

Ananganmala is situated in Ottapalam forest zone which falls under the Palakkad forest division. Ananganmala is situated about 45 km from Palakkad and 15km from Ottapalam and stands on a hill of approximately 3000 acres. The thick lush green vegetation in its natural habitat is home to a number of wild life animals and rare plants. It is an ancient peculiar ritualistic art form dedicated to Bhagavati, worshiped by the people of Kerala as the Mother Goddess. As a ritualistic art form,Tolpava Koothu is performed during the monthsbdc of January to May as the especially constructed theatre called Koothu Madam in front of the Bhagavati temple These shows are conducted at almost all the major temples in the vicinity more so in these parts as this is the locale that this form of puppetry originated.

THRISSUR

Vadakkumnathan Temple is an ancient Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva in middle of Thrissur Town. This temple is a classic example of the architectural style of Kerala and has monumental towers on all four sides and also a kuttambalam. Mural paintings depicting various episodes from Mahabharata can be seen inside the temple. The shrines and the Kuttambalam display vignettes carved in wood. The temple, along with the mural paintings, has been declared as a National Monument by India under the AMASR Act. According to popular local lore, this is the first temple built by Parasurama, the sixth avatar of Vishnu. Thekkinkadu maidan, encircling the Vadakkunnathan Temple, is the main venue of the Thrissur Pooram. In the year 2012 the Archaeological Survey of India has recommended 14 sites, including Vadakkumnathan Temple and palaces, from Kerala to include in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The temple is also the first one among the 108 Shiva Temples in the ancient Kerala, created by Parasurama.

Shakthan Thampuran Palace is situated in Thrissur. It is named as Vadakkekara Palace, was reconstructed in Kerala-Dutch style in 1795 by Ramavarma Thampuran of the erstwhile Princely State of Cochin – and now is a Museum

Our Lady of Dolours Basilica alias Puthanpally is a minor basilica of the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church in Thrissur The third tallest church in Asia, it is famous for its Gothic style architecture. Built in fine Indo-Gothic style with an area of 25,000 square feet, it is the largest church in India and its exuberant interior decorations include fine specimens of murals, images of saints and scenes from the scriptures.
